Health inspectors found one low performer and five high performers during their latest checks of area restaurants.
This week's low score belongs to Manhattan Café on South 17th Street in Wilmington. Four points off because butter, which should be stored below 45 degrees, was at 71 degrees. Four more because disposable gloves should be thrown away after use and hands should be washed when changing gloves and tasks. The slicer needs detailed cleaning and sanitizing. The floor of the walk-in cooler needs cleaning. And burned out and missing lights need to be replaced. A score of 87 for Manhattan Café.
This week's top score goes to South College Sandwich & Deli in Wilmington. A perfect 100 plus two points for workers passing a food safety score.
The same top score of 102 goes to a consistent high performer, Toscana Café and Gourmet Market in Fulton Station at 17th Street and College Road in Wilmington.
The North, South and East concession stands at Legion Stadium on Carolina Beach road all had perfect 100s. Not far way, Greenfield Amphitheater, home of Shakespeare on the Green, also scored 100.
And just a half point off because cups need to be kept in sleeves and the sleeves need to be up at Ichiban Express on Maple Avenue.
