Kitchen Cops 6/26/08

READ MORE:
No low performers in this week's Kitchen Cops report. But one restaurant did get a second chance with the health inspector. Last time out Water Street Market in Downtown Wilmington scored an 81 after an inspector found German cockroaches and rodent droppings among other problems. This time there were no droppings, but there were roaches in the kitchen and part of a roach in the silverware tray. Several things also need cleaning. But an improvement to 91.5. Four New Hanover County restaurants earned high marks in this week's Kitchen Cops report. We begin by setting sail on the Henrietta III docked in Downtown Wilmington. A half point off because the floor needs to be fixed. But a two-point bonus for workers passing a food safety course. The same score of 101.5 goes to the Chick-Fil-A in Mayfaire. Just a half point off because storage needs to be removed from the floor. The staff at the Wilmington Ice House in Ogden need to wear hair restraints. Just a half point off plus a two-point bonus for a 101.5. And finally a perfect 100 for Scoop Ice Cream and Sandwich on Front Street downtown.

roaches

I am 46 years old...I bet you in my lifetime I have had only 4 roaches (that I found) in my homes. I keep my house clean and dry. I know they eat all kinds of things other than food. Maybe I have just been lucky.

You probably have just been

golden corral

there health score is 100 bye the way

Re: Golden Corral Bug

God made the bugs and they have a right to exist wherever they please. What if they didn't want you in the resturant? Could they stomp on you? I think not. Get over it. It's one bug. Maybe you should be more worried about the noted asian resturants that have been using their feet to mix our precious noodles! It may have just been a waterbug which are far more common and usually unavoidable.

Golden Coral

Hello, Have a question. My family was in town and are leaving today. We went to Golden Coral At Monkey Junction To Have our last dinner with them. We were eating, enjoying each other when One of us jumped to see a roach crawling across the table. We contacted one of the employees, but he just looked at us as if maybe just to forget it. We told him where it was, he just asked if we would like to see the manager. The manager came but was rude and told us that they meaning the roaches had been here longer than we have and that he has them at his house everyday. can Kitchen kops or trouble shooters televise and trouble shoot this? we all lost our appetite. he wasn't going to give us our money back until my friend's son actually killed the roach and presented it to them. Please reply Regards, Donna Cooper.

roaches in restaurants

I worked in a restaurant a few years ago that had roaches. These people really cared, and they sprayed and sprayed. They literally called 8, and I mean 8 different bug companies. They each came with their own little spray and ideas. Some used bombs, some used traps, some just sprayed. The problem never ever got any better. Then they finally called the 9th place. It was at Carolina Beach and it starts with an A. They are still using them to this day and it is the ONLY place in the whole entire county that really has something to kill roaches.I use them at my house now and my rental properties. I don't know what they use different, but it works. Nobody wants to eat somewhere that has bugs, but most people can't help it, they try.

We moved into a rental

We moved into a rental several years ago. Before we moved in I noticed it had a cockroach problem. I was amazed that someone dealing with these pests knew how to actually get rid and kill them all. There were 2 living units in this place plus an attached office front. There was a dark brown putty like substance that was placed several places between the floor molding and wall. Apparently the cockroaches feasted on this and all died. We lived there about 5 years and never saw one roach or any signs of them. So there is something out there that does work. Most pest control companies just spray. This only scares the bugs away for a while and they come back. Most pest companies are just ripping people off.
