Heading out to eat this holiday weekend? Two New Hanover County restaurants have some work to do after a visit from the health inspector.
This week's lowest score belongs to Andy's Cheesesteaks at 2416 Carolina Beach Road in Wilmington. Five points off because chili was too cold in the deli cooler. Five more because there was no raw meat sink, so raw shrimp was thawing in the food prep sink. And a cutting boards on the deli unit had deep cuts. 83.5 for Andy's.
And to Nagila on Wrightsville Avenue. Chicken and beef were stored together in the same bin. An employee did not wash their hands before putting on gloves. And an employee making food was not wearing a hair restraint. 85 For Nagila.
There is one wilmington restaurant on this week's Kitchen cops high performers list, and it's a repeat performer. A health inspector found no problems at Little Dipper at 138 South Front Street. A perfect 100 plus a two-point bonus for workers passing a food safety course for a total score of 102.
