Kitchen Cops 8/20/09

READ MORE:
Health inspectors found a single low performer and four high performers in their most recent checks of area restaurants. This week's low score belongs to Ming Yao in Monkey Junction. Three points off because dumplings were stored in a grocery bag instead of an approved container. Three more because cutting boards, counters, prep tables and the three-compartment sink all need cleaning and sanitizing. Sauces, pork, egg rolls and chicken were uncovered in the walk-in and reach-in coolers. An empty can and plastic cups were being used as scoops. And several things need cleaning. Ming Yao scores 87. This week's high score goes to Dinner A Go-Go on Oleander Drive in Wilmington. A half point off because the area around the drain needs cleaning. Add back a two-point bonus for workers passing a food safety course and a score of 101.5. The same score for A Slice of Life on Military Cutoff in Wilmington. Just a half point off because the dumpster door needs to be closed when not in use and garbage bags should not be put behind the dumpster. For the third time since March, Capt'n Bill's Banquet Facility on Market Street scored a perfect 100. And perfection as well for Le Catalan on Water Street in Downtown Wilmington.
