A Wilmington restaurant has some work to do after a visit from a health inspector, and another restaurant gets a second chance. Plus four restaurants earned top marks from health inspectors.
This week's lowest score belongs to boodle's on oleander drive in Wilmington. Three points off because dishes were found dirty. Two more points because handles on sinks needed cleaning and faucet and spray arm at the dish sink needed to be replaced. The inspector saw an employee remove a bug from a wall with a wisk over the air dry rack. There were roaches throughout the restaurant. And several things needed cleaning. 87 for boodle's.
Health inspectors gave Ruby Tuesday at Independence Mall a second chance. It scored an 82 a few weeks ago. There still some issues with food temperatures and cleaning. But an improvement to 95.5.
This week's highest score belongs to china star at 6400 Carolina Beach Road. No violation and the highest score possible: 102.
Jerry's Food, Wine & Spirits lost half a point because shelving and containers in the dry storage area need cleaning. Add back two points for workers passing a food safety course and a score of 101.5.
A half point off for Firehouse Subs on Oleander Drive because all coolers need thermometers that are in good repair.
The same score of 99.5 for PT's Old Fashioned Grill in Porters Neck because cleaning is needed under the tea maker and the grill.
