READ MORE: Labor Day plans washed away

This wasn't exactly the Labor Day trip to the coast many had planned on, as rain foiled the plans of many vacationers. "Didn't get to do the boating down here that we planned to do, but we had a good time anyway. And now you're taking a detour? Taking a detour trying to see a friend and it don't look like we're going to get to him,” said Grady Scott who was visiting from Raleigh. Country Club Road just off Route 17 in Hampstead was closed. Lots of rain caused severe flooding, and headaches for drivers. "This is just the most rain I've seen since a hurricane,” said Rita Covil. Some were lucky enough to brave the storm indoors, like Hampstead resident, Jennifer Jackson. "I'm really glad that I have flood insurance,” she said. Her yard usually floods when the skies open up, but nothing like this. “In about a year-and-a-half, this is the worst that we've ever seen it.” Labor Day is typically a day for cook-outs, but this year was more of a wash-out.
