Leland celebrates a birthday

The town of Leland celebrated its birthday Saturday. People gathered at town hall to commemorate the day. Leland was founded September 12th, 1989. The event had free food, a live band and entertainment for the kids. Vendors were also on hand with some goodies. Organizers said the party brought the community together. “The people getting together and talking and having a lot of kids coming out, a lot of free activities, and everybody volunteering together and it comes out to be a good day,” said organizer Donna Strickland. This is the seventh year for the Founder's Day celebration. Organizers say hundreds attended the festivities.
