More emergency medical assistance is now available in Brunswick County.

On December 29th, the Leland Volunteer Fire/Rescue Department began operations as an EMT paramedic provider in Brunswick County. Monday, the community was invited to see the department's new ambulance and equipment, and meet the new state licensed paramedics.

The fire chief said this addition will improve safety in Brunswick County. "It means when they see a Leland Fire/Rescue ambulance they're getting the highest level of care that's available to them, at their home, in the state of North Carolina. Our technicians are able to provide the highest level of care," said Chief John Grimes.

The chief also said having the paramedic operation will improve response time within the county.
