Leland officers OK after 18-wheeler hits cruiser

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) -- Two Leland police officers are OK after they were hit by an 18-wheeler this morning. The truck and a Leland police car were traveling south on US 17 around 9:30 a.m.

The driver of the 18-wheeler did not see the cruiser when he went to make a right turn into a drive-way. He hit the cruiser's driver side door forcing the car into some mailboxes.

There was minor damage to the 18-wheeler. The police car had significant damage.

One of the officers went to Brunswick Community Hospital as a precaution.

the no-zone

That's why people should not ride along next to an 18 wheeler.
They call it the "no-zone".
It's a blind spot for the truck driver.
Police should know better.
