18 year old sentenced to 29 to 37 years behind bars

An 18 year-old Wilmington man will serve decades behind bars for a 2008 murder. Obrian Hester pleaded guilty Monday in the murder of Michelle Crutchfield. Tuesday, he was sentenced to 29 to 37 years in prison.

Convention center hotel still up in the air

There still is no word as to what kind of hotel will be built next to the convention center. The Wilmington River Group had until Tuesday to provide a million dollars in financial security in the form of a bond or letter of credit.

UNCW makes list of 'military friendly' schools

UNC-Wilmington has made the list of 'military friendly' schools. The list is compiled each year by the magazine G.I. Jobs. It honors the top 15 percent of colleges and universities are "doing the most to embrace America's veterans as students."

One Tree Hill shoot looks to close Causeway Bridge

There is a road closure coming up at Wrightsville Beach to allow for a One Tree Hill shoot. The town said it is working with producers of the TV show and the DOT to ensure the shoot will not interfere with traffic flow.

Bomb threat causes New Hanover County Courthouse to be evacuated

A bomb threat prompted the New Hanover County Courthouse to be evacuated Monday. The threat was called into the 911 center from a payphone at 902 Rankin Street at 11:52 a.m. The courthouse was evacuated while authorities performed a visual search, but did not find anything.

Brunswick County Animal Shelter gives OK on adoptions

Dog adoptions are back on at the Brunswick County Animal Shelter. Adoptions were put on hold last month after two dogs tested positive for distemper, a highly-contagious respiratory disease.
