Pitching a business idea is nothing new. Doing it in 5 minutes or less, in some cases ten, is. But that was the name of the game Wednesday night at UNC-Wilmington. “Rocket pitch is synonymous with entrepreneurship. The idea, as an entrepreneur starting a company, is that you are able to articulate exactly what your company does, your products or your service, your competitive advantage, your competition, your growth strategy," said director of UNCW Entrepreneurship Center Jonathan Rowe. In the audience, were some heavy hitters with the ability to financially back some of these ideas. Wilmington resident Ed Mondello has developed a glide bike that does not require training wheels. He is targeting his product toward a younger crowd, and their parents of course. Wilmington filmmaker Terry Linehan is looking to produce his first feature length movie called, "Deep Dark Water". He is already made several short films. Also there was Frank Jones who has developed a hands-free electric boat. "We spent a lot of time on this product and it is being well-received in the market place. We hope folks here will receive it the same way," he said. Wilmington was recently listed as the 14th best midsize city in the country to launch a start-up business, so who knows where these ideas could go.
