Cape Fear Community College and UNC Wilmington are taking steps to try and keep their students safe. School officials sent out emails to their students, notifying them of recent attacks in Wilmington. The e-mails remind students to be cautious of their surroundings and to know the protections available on campus.
Cape Fear Community College students we spoke with say this type of campus-wide notification is a good idea.
"I didn't hear anything about the attacks," CFCC student Matt Lawson said. "I think the college should notify the students, especially the women, because people are always around downtown."
To avoid walking alone, Cape Fear Community College students are encouraged to call and ask for a security guard to walk with them. CFCC's main number is (910) 362-7000.

Security for Females
It's certainly a step in the right direction. Females should never become complacent about the risk of attacks, rapes, etc. Perhaps after two females were accosted this past weekend in the early morning hours, more women will take heed to never walk alone at that time of day. It's too dangerous.
