Local fire departments to receive funds

U.S. Representative Mike McIntyre announced more federal funding today for the Sunset Beach and New Hanover County fire departments. Sunset Beach will receive $40,000 and New Hanover County will receive $61,000. McIntyre said the funds will be used for operations and safety improvements.

Im certain this money is the result each department applying for a Federal Grant. If you dont write the grant application, how are you ever going to get the money?

Local fire departments to receive funds

This story is a bit confusing. According to the text, the funds will be received by the Sunset Beach & New Hanover County Fire Departments. However, the photo on the story preview is of 3 WILMINGTON Fire Department trucks. When you open the full story there is a sign "Wilmington Fire Dept" on a red background. The New Hanover County Fire Department and the Wilmington Fire Department are 2 separate departments. If the text is correct, the funds will be received by the New Hanover County Fire Department. Which begs the question: Why isn't our excellent WILMINGTON FIRE DEPARTMENT receiving any funds?
