NEW HANOVER COUNTY -- Ten local high school football teams got the season underway Friday night at the 21st annual BB&T Jamboree. The event raised money for scholarships for players and cheerleaders. New Hanover High School's Athletic Director Keith Moore says an estimated 11,000 people attended. Moore says everyone at New Hanover High School is excited for the season to begin. "This is Kevin Motsinger's second year. He's come in, he's very pleased with the kids' effort and work, work habits. They've worked hard in the weight room throughout last year, the school year, this summer. They've really committed themselves," Moore said. Mooore says New Hanover High's team will face a tough non-conference schedule, but feels that will better prepare it for its conference schedule.
