A local high school student has been named the state's 2008 Female Athlete of the Year.
Pender High senior Jannetta Robinson earned the award for her outstanding athletic achievements during her high school career. She played volleyball, basketball and softball and ran track.
Robinson led the Patriots basketball team to a state runner-up finish and was the Eastern Regional most valuable player this season. Robinson's athleticism has paid off.
She has just received a full scholarship to Barton College to play basketball.

Great Basketball player
I remember playing basketball with her in her yard, and I knew that she had something. Great job Janetta, may God Bless you and your family!

Wonderful
In a day and time where everything we see is so negative, it is refreshing to see a good story. Congratulations on your achievement.
A stellar athlete!
Anyone who knows Janetta knows she is the "complete" package. She is smart, funny, sweet and incredibly athletic. It is a pure joy to watch someone who enjoys themselves as much as she does in EVERY sport. As a Patriot Athletic Booster at Pender High - I could not be more proud! GO Janetta - Go Patriots! Barton College has no idea just what they are getting!
GREAT JOB!!! There are
GREAT JOB!!! There are always too many comments when teenagers do badly and never enough praise when they do well. I hope that this is just the first of many good things that Jannetta accomplishes in her life. Keep up the good work.
