Local woman's art to appear on Wheat Thins box

WILMINGTON -- A local woman whose hobby is geared at encouraging women to dream, just had her own dream come true. April Negron of Wilmington has crafted fairy wings since she was young. Now her creations will be featured on a limited edition Wheat Thins box. Negron entered a contest put on by Nabisco inviting women to share how their personal artistic expression fulfills their lives. Negron says she never imagined her hobby would bring nationwide recognition. She says she became interested in making fairy wings because her late mother used to read her fairy tales before bed. Negron said, "It's another way I can hopefully honor my mom and maybe inspire other women who've either had a tragic loss, or maybe just need a way to relieve their stresses." Negron is one of only five winners chosen from thousands of entries. She also won a trip to New York and $5,000 to pursue her craft. The boxes of Wheat Thins will be distributed across the country.
