Lottery officials try to boost sales

READ MORE:
In an effort to boost sluggish sales lottery officials are trying to convince more high-traffic, well-placed stores to sell lottery tickets. The lottery's sales representatives are now focusing on bringing more retailers into the lottery's network to sell Powerball and scratch-and-win tickets. A recruitment drive was launched in September. As of June, North Carolina had one lottery retailer for about every 1,500 residents. That's lower than the national average and proportionally fewer outlets than in neighboring states. The lottery raised $313 million for education in the fiscal year that ended June 30.

So...what does this mean?

"The lottery raised $313 million for education in the fiscal year that ended June 30." Does this represent an increase in TOTAL dollars for education or were cuts made from previous funding formulas with the net result being the same dollars for education prior to the lottery? I know here in New Hanover County, the Board of Aggavation (Education) is always crying about not having enough money. Maybe they need to look at how top-heavy their organization is.

Ultimate lottery

The lottery is just another scam to get a few choice people close to the law makers rich. The really longshot odds are the school children that this is suppose to help. They are the biggest losers. We wouldn't need a lottery if we had competant people that would do their jobs, both in state government and schools. We can do far more with less spending, so the next lottery I participate in will be the voting booth elections of the idiots in office (IIO's) that implemented this scheme.

Voting

At only 12% voter turnout the people you are talking about that are in office will stay until they are ready to retire. Then the 20% voter turnout will replace them with their clones.

Lottery ticket sales

They could boost the lottery ticket sales more by having more winners. Nothing attracks people playing the lottery more than having winners.

low payout

they can put a lottery station on every street, but until they raise the scratch-off payout,South Carolina here I come!

One way to improve lottery sales

Repeal the mandatory seat belt law and hope that lots of us get in wrecks that cause trauma to the cranial vault, with resultant brain damage. Then, we'll all buy lottery tickets. Ah, the lottery....a tax on people who are bad at math.

Lottery Tax

Notice how the state outlawed those evil poker machines but are now pushing the lottery ever so hard. LOL, They had to get rid of the competition before they started their own scam.

AMAN PEPOLE HATE THE TRUTH

AMAN PEPOLE HATE THE TRUTH WHEN THE POAKER MACHINES WAS AROUND I PLAYED SOME HOW I ONE AND THATS THE ONLY WAY I COULD PAY FOR GROCERIES 2 FEED MY SON HHHHHMMMM HOW MANY PEOPLE HAS ONE THE LOTTERY SEEMS LIKE IF THE COMPUTER PICKS YOUR # THE COMPUTER IS SMARTER ENOUGHT NOT 2 PICK YOURS LOVE BROKE ASS

poker paul

LOLOLOLOLOL what? We see who plays the lottery here folks.

Paul + Spelling = 0

Paul I usually don't call posts out for their spelling or grammar, but I could hardly make heads or tails of your comment. The ALL CAPS thing is not really working either. If you have to rely on a video poker machine to feed your children you should go back to school.

back to school PAUL

You could've stayed in school to get a decent education and a real job that pays good enough for you to feed your son. Your statement is so full of improper word use and spelling errors it hurts to read it. You are correct, I don't believe anybody has ever one the lottery. I do know of plenty that have won by playing.
