Man Arrested for Creekwood Murder

Wilmington police have arrested a man in connection with a Creekwood murder last week. Seventeen year-old Obrian Kireef Hester was taken into custody Friday evening. He is charged with the murder of forty five year-old Michelle Francine Crutchfield of Wilmington. Crutchfield was shot and killed on North Thirtieth Street almost two weeks ago. Hester is being held without bond at the New Hanover County jail. Police say there was another suspect involved and that the investigation is ongoing. Why are so many people blaming the parents when they have taken prayer and spankings away. Ok we can say the kids should have not been out there but we also can say the woman should not have been there also. The police need to start arresting the uses as well as the dealers. I have seen police ride right by a white crack head and don't say nothing. My child has been stop because of the car she worked hard to pay for because she has dreads. They stop black people for anything. Stop some of these crack heads then the drug dealers won't have no one to sell to. Lets try that.I am a black female and i don't go to creekwood at 3:00 pm. Please people three lives are taking.We can play the name game but nothing changes.

i agree wit u, police would rather put a black man behind bars cuz they all think black guys are drug dealers. If a black man is drivin a benz, he gets stopped cuz they assume no black man works hard enough to get a benz, if he's drivin a crown vic or a chevy because thats what most black guys like to drive, he gets stopped. maybe we need to start drivin ford trucks with mud tires, or a minivan, or even a ford pinto

Please people, what in the h311 is going on? What on earth was a 17 year old doing on the streets at 3 a.m.? Where are his parents? Does he have a home? I have a hard time thinking about these poor KIDS that are raised like animals by irresponsible parents. YES, I blame parents to an extent. Most decent parents raise decent children. MOST of them. People please STOP breeding these kids if you haven't got the mental fortitude to raise them into responsible caring humans. Another wasted life. Do you wonder why the black on black murder is so high? They have no appreciation for the life they have or anyone else.

I've read all the comments posted and I just have a few questions. Does anyone who can actually make a difference read these comments, like the police, the governor, or the mayor? Do parents read these comments and take them serious enough to do something about their children being out all hours of the night and getting involved in gang activity? No? Then who's finger is pointing at whom? Think about it. Somebody has got to take the initiative and make a stand. Parents United for a greater community! Take action! You can't keep blaming society for your children. You've raised them from birth. Do something! They are your children. If I were to chastise your child for doing wrong you would be quick to call the police and report me. So just stand up and stop being cowards and take authority in your own homes by correcting your own children. Take a Stand!

(History 101) Here's a list of Caucasion Americans that have done the race proud; Charles Manson, Susan Smith, Jim Black, Ted Bundy, Richard Nixon, Trent Lott, Lee Harvey Oswald, Scott Peterson, Ronald Hewitt, Lindsey Lohan and George W. So may people have so much to say let's not forget that a "human" lost her life in this whole ordeal. Maybe she was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Only 5 people know what really happened that night, God, the 2 that tried to rob her, the deceased, and the gentleman that was in the truck. Who are we to make any judgements on anyone. You may need to ask yourself what can I do to make a change. Rather that sit here and make all the comments about hiding in the woods to kill a 17 year old child, or even putting a needle in his arm. Society is quick keep to past judgement on people but you have to point the fingers at yourself. What have you done to change anything? You don't here anything about the 19 year old that killed the man on River Road. Let's not past judement on people because we don't know the whole story.

I think that your comment is very mean. Because whoever that child that committed that murder could have been one of your kids. No matter what color or race that child is. Everyone has chances of changing or to better themselves but to just say that you would take a sniple rifle and kill this person don't make you no better than he is for taking a life. We don't know the circumstances of what happen and we just assumed that he just killed this lady because she was a white lady in a black neighborhood. But right now we should look on this as it is time to educate our kids more and give them chances of becoming someone. But mainly we need to pray for the family that lost someone and for the mother that is losing her child because of the streets. Violence is a hurtful thing but to see these kids today that have no morals or standards for themselves because of their parents not listening, caring, or not loving them enough. So that makes a child turn to the streets. I think it is wrong for the young man to kill this woman but also you have to ask yourself what really happened?

Had he been raised correctly and grown up in the right environment, he would not have committed that murder. If you let your kids grow up in the jungle, don't be surprised when they wind up acting like animals. That's why no one should have kids until they can TRULY CARE FOR THEM, which means getting them OUT of the inner city as soon as they are born.

If you used the same logic that you applied to Africans and American Africans then,the same thing could be said for Caucasions and Caucasion Americans. It was a senseless crime but, in no way does this define an entire race of people. Do you think the American Indian see's the Caucasion American as a friendly, peaceful race of people?????? The hell hole you commented on is not the problem. There are nice respectable people that stay in these neighborhoods that have young boys that don't even live in the neighborhood that come out there and give Creekwood a bad name. All of the crimes that have been committed out there are from those that don't even stay out there. The police come out and patrol the place and see these guys standing around and just passes by like it is nothing. Instead they should be jumping out on them and asking for ID's to see if they are resident of the neighborhood. The people that stay in Wilmington Housing Authority are trying everything they can to make the place safe. But it takes the residents to make safe also. Some are afraid to speak out about certain things because they have children that play outside that might get hurt or their lives taken from them. So i say this it is not a bad area it just needs more help to get things in control.

Are you kidding me...it has already been published the number of outstanding criminal warrants for persons with addresses living in Creekwood. You need to find another angle, because saying Creekwood is not the problem aint working for ya. If the WHA was trying to make and keep things safe around there, where is Ms. McDonald your spokeswoman? We all know she isn't at work holding down a 40 hour work week...with all the unemployed folks out there, you should have the best neighborhood watch program around...it aint like the tenants are working either :)...

Creekwood murder

I knew the deceased woman that was murdered. Yes she was a crack drug addict, and no she should not have been out at 3:00 a.m., but she is a person with a family that loves her and kids that love her. Have some respect for the dead. The suspect involved in this case will have his day in court. Remember he is a person too. A person who probably had uneducated parents, or parents that do not care. The real problem with all of this is illegal drugs! Parents educate your children to not do DRUGS, then there would not be violent crimes like that and others. Someone who cares!

Here's a rhetorical qusetion, but think about it....how can anyone have respect for a crackhead, alive or dead? How can you respect a person who throws their whole life away for a drug? I didn't know this woman, but I know another woman who was funny, intelligent, and beautiful. My God, was she beautiful. She had the whole world open to her - one of those naturals at sales. She could have been a multi-millionairess just based on her ability to close a deal. She could have done anything she put her mind to. Instead, she let an old boyfriend convince her to try crack. I ran into her recently after ten years. It was nice to know she was still alive, because I often wondered....every hour of every day, at first, but then, as time went by....not so often....but it wasn't a pleasant ten years for her. Jail, prison, being beaten and raped because she owed money for crack....She could have wound up just like the woman at Creekwood. No home, drifting from one crash-pad to another, two kids from two different fathers and seeing both taken away from her....and then the nagging cough that turned out to be lung cancer. At forty-two years old she had most of one lung removed because of the steel wool filters that crackheads use in their glass pipes. She's clean and sober for now, but trying to re-start life in your mid-forties with absolutely nothing but a criminal record doesn't promise a very rosey future. Respect them? No. Pity them. Feel sorry for them. Pray for them. But you can't respect anyone who takes the gifts that God has given them and throwns them into the gutter. If the murdered woman was indeed a crackhead, she died a long time ago, long before she was shot.
