CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) -- A Carolina Beach man is in jail charged with setting fire to a restaurant. The fire broke out just before 4 a.m. Wednesday at the SeaWitch Cafe and Tiki Bar in Carolina Beach.
Witnesses told property management they had seen a suspicious man around the property. Managers identified a man that had been thrown out of the SeaWitch the night before the fire.
Carolina Beach investigators have arrested Robert Arthur Foltz and charged him with arson. During the investigation, detectives determined Foltz had been convicted of a crime requiring him to register as a sex offender. That led to an additional charge of failure to register as a sex offender.
Foltz is in the New Hanover County jail under $300,000 bond.
