Man struck and killed along MLK Parkway identified

Authorities released the name of a 24 year-old man who was struck and killed on Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway Thursday night. Christopher Allen Stephens, of Wilmington, was walking along MLK Parkway and walked into the path of a pickup truck, which struck and killed him. Stephens is believed to have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident, which happened around 8:45 p.m. near the Highway 133 exit. Stephens had been in a car with his mother, then got out and started walking. The driver who hit Stephens does not face charges. There will be a funeral at Andrews Mortuary on Market Street at 3 p.m. on Sunday, with visitation with family members starting at 2 p.m.
