There was a traffic tie-up and a tense situation in downtown Wilmington late Tuesday afternoon. Around 4:30 p.m., police closed off a couple blocks of Front Street after a man threatened to jump from the top of the Murchison Building, on the corner of Front and Chestnut streets. Trained negotiators spoke with the man on top of the building, and were able to get him down within about an hour. He was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center for psychiatric evaluation.
