BRUNSWICK COUNTY -- Do you ever wonder where all your federal tax dollars are going? Tuesday people in Brunswick County found out. US Congressman Mike McIntyre delivered federal funding to the Shallotte fire station. USDA Rural Development provided a $485,000 low interest loan to Shallotte so the fire station could buy a new building. The new station will have an office, meeting room, equipment bays and sleeping quarters for 28 fire fighters. McIntyre said, "Residents can know that they've got even greater fire protection. It was badly needed here. The growth has been so phenomenal that we had to make sure that we could meet the demands of a growing public. So we're real excited and Shallotte Fire Department is going to be on the cutting edge with its new fire station." The congressman's next stop was at the Town of Carolina Shores where he presented a $300,000r check to expand town hall. Then McIntyre delivered $75,000 federal to Brunswick County schools to buy more computers.
