Michelle Obama in Jacksonville Tuesday

Michelle Obama is planning a visit to Jacksonville Tuesday. She will host a community event for military families at Jacksonville Commons Recreation Center. Obama is expected to talk about the challenges these families face when a loved one is deployed. She will also discuss the Obama/Biden campaign to support troops and economic security for North Carolina families. The event starts at 1:30 p.m. and is free to the public.

you would have to be there to understand

How can someone who has no personal experience with deployment talk about what to do and how it affects a family. That is crazy!! She does not know what it is like to wonder if they are safe, secure, if they will ever come home, does she ever have to reassure her children that Daddy or Mommy really love them and that is why they had to go away to keep them safe. Does she sit and hold them in the middle of the night when they wake up crying because they miss them or they had a bad dream that they got killed?? I am sorry I will take experience over book knowledge any day!! There are a lot of things that need fixed in the country but I would much rather have someone who has a long standing record of serving his country and knowing what sacrifice for the good of all really is, who has a real record of honor rather than one who has lived a life of disdain and rebellion towards the very country that has offered him the opportunity which he now has. His wife does not impress me as someone who can relate, this aloof coolness that comes from both of them will cause serious issues should they become the leading family in this country. Mark these words, there is more behind them than they let on, deep concerns about where their money comes from, who is financing this campaign and where their allegiance really lies and that I think, is way beyond our borders. Check out some of the issues on Sean Hannitys website, get some more opinions other than mainstream media before you cast your vote and have to learn the Koran in the next four years.

Excuse me, but what does SHE know about it?

"Obama is expected to talk about the challenges these families face when a loved one is deployed." So tell us about when ol' PFC Barack went to Okinawa for a one year unaccompanied tour....

Please allow this to penetrate your head: The issue is not Obama's skin color. The issue is not Obama's skin color. The issue is not Obama's skin color. This issue IS that he is a Socialist who has committed himself to wealth redistribution. His voting record also clearly indicates that he is against gun ownership. Got it yet? No racism, just revulsion at the latest liberal loon the Democrats have nominated. Do we have problems? Yes. Is Socialism and wealth redistribution the answer? NO!

some of the early writings from now Senator and Mrs. Obama. I am talking about the ones written before the Political bug bit him. Look at some of his early associates such as members of the Weather Underground, an organization involved in bombings within our country. Ask about his involvement in "supporting" public housing in Chicago. His Buddy and Patron made millions; the housing sits boarded up. The real losers were the taxpayers. Ask about his involvement in forcing Illinois based lenders to make home loans to prospective home buyers who had no means possible to pay the loan. But he and his cronies forced the issue; ability to pay was not a relevant issue they said. Look at the scare tactics and threats they used to forec those loans to be made. Ask him about the $1.4 million home he was able to purchase with a real sweet heart deal thnaks to his Patron. Will the truth come out? It's out there for anyone who can read and think and does not let emotions and denial get in the way.

Get the facts Tommy boy

William Ayers is a professor of education at the University of Illinois at Chicago, with whom Barack served on the board of an education-reform organization in the mid-1990’s. According to the Associated Press, they are not close: “No evidence shows they were “pals” or even close when they worked on community boards years ago …” The McCain campaign is trying to connect Obama to acts Ayers committed 40 years ago – when Barack was just eight years old. Here’s what the New York Times reported on the connection: But the two men do not appear to have been close. Nor has Mr. Obama ever expressed sympathy for the radical views and actions of Mr. Ayers, whom he has called “somebody who engaged in detestable acts 40 years ago, when I was 8.” Barack has publicly denounced Ayers’ radical actions from the 1960’s: Senator Obama strongly condemns the violent actions of the Weathermen group, as he does all acts of violence. But he was an eight-year-old child when Ayers and the Weathermen were active, and any attempt to connect Obama with events of almost forty years ago is ridiculous. Like your post.

No Quick Response?

Mr or Ms OWOW: No quick, canned response to facts? Or has Senator Obama denied all knowledge of you?

How about this one Mr or Ms. OWOW: Jim Johnson, a former Executive at Lehman Brothers was forced from his position as Fannie Mae CEO in 2006. He replaced Mr. Raines. He's under investigation for taking loans from Countrywide without disclosure to the Fannie Mae Board. He also ensured his compensation was underreported by Fannie Mae. At one point, Fannie Mae reported compensation of $7,000,000 when in fact it was $21,000,000. Where is he now? Another Senior Financial Adviser to the Obama Campaign and he led the Vice Presidential Search Committee. Again I ask, is this the measure of the financial experts Senator Obama is using to formulate his fiscal recovery program? As always, please let us know if you are commenting on behalf of Senator Obama or his campaign?

I am curious

as to why WWAY censored, and failed to post, 2 comments about Franklin Raines and Tim Howard, former top officials at Fannie Mae, who greatly contrubuted to its downfall; walked away with millions; and now serve on the Obama Election Committe as Senior Economic Advisers? Don't you think the citizens, who will vote in less than 30 days, should have all the facts?

Just for the record

Mr. Raines and Mr. Howard were forced out of Fannie Mae in 2004 with lofty golden parachutes. Mr. Raines was forced to return $50,000,000 of his due to his performance. Mr. Howard was specifically criticized for failing to enact proper accounting practices over an extended period; and he was CFO.

During their reign

Fannie Mae was forced to take a $9,000,000,000 that is NINE BILLION DOLLAR write down against its surplus. and these are the guys advising the Obama election effort on Economic Affairs??

How about this one

Are they not neighbors? They do have an "association" which goes beyond serving on a Board in the 1990s. By the way, do you speak on behalf of the Senator or his Campaign?

why don't

you respond to the entire post? Do you speak on behalf of Senator Obama? Have you chatted with him, first hand, on any of these topics? You certainly act as though you are speaking for him; has he approved your comments? Has any member of his staff approved your comments? Or do you just mouth off with the Obama-Biden campaign rhetoric? I raised 5 issues; by your silence may we assume the other 4 are accurate and "on behalf of Senator Obama" you choose to overlook those in the hope they will go away? And how dare you call me Boy? Did you serve in our Country's defense? Have you worn the uniform of our Country? Have you been shot at by our Country's foes?

Well written OWOW

As you are an obvious Obama supporter and from what I have seen, a well written one you my be able to address two concerns that are paramount to me. One, why do you think it took the act of having her husband win the Democratic nomination for Obama's wife to become "proud to be an American". As an older adult I remember things like, "Whites Only" restaurants and "Jim Crow" laws. I remember when blacks were not admitted to many upstanding and "white only" universities. It just has not been that long ago. With these major changes in our country in such recent history, changes that made it possible for her to attend one of these schools and use her skills to get ahead, changes that made it possible for Obama himself to do the same, seems like she would have been a "proud American" long before. It disturbs me that she was not. The other thing that really gets to me. As a veteran that has risked his life for our nation and saw friends die on the field of battle for our nation why does Obama not show the respect for the symbol of our nation, our flag, that it is due. Why is he above putting his hand over his heart in tribute to our nation, our people and our current and fallen military when the flag of our country is presented. Frankly, with all (and there are many) problems I have with McCain, I just can not bring myself to put a person (Obama) in the job of "Commander and Chief" that does not comply with protocol when the colors are displayed. I find this ignoring of respect for our flag and what it stands for unforgivable. I am looking forward to your well written answers to these questions.

“For the first time in my adult life, I am really proud of my country.” She said she was trying to say that she was proud of how Americans are engaging in the political process. She also said she’s proud of America and wouldn’t be where she is if it weren’t for its possibilities. I can see her point being that her husband has actually been accepted into the normally white mans game this election. Makes me think there may be hope for the racist population. Honestly I never thought I would be supporting a black presidential nominee. As far as the not holding his hand over his heart photo goes. The photo was taken during the singing of the national anthem, not the pledge. During the Pledge of Allegiance you put your hand over your heart. During the national anthem you sing. Depends on how you were raised. I do not put my hand over my heart for the anthem either. Seem like small errors to say they are not patriotic. Are we all as patriotic as we should be 24/7? Guess we can say what we want when we are not in the spotlight.

no cigar

Nice spin as You tell what She meant. Nice Spin but, no cigar. On the second issue, one that is seeking the highest office in our country knows what protocol is. Or, should know. Placing the hand over the heart in civilian attire or saluting the flag in uniform is the correct protocol when while facing the flag during the playing of and/or singing the national anthem. We commoners have somewhat got away from that at the ball game and/or on race day. But, for someone that would be President to not follow this, is shameful. With that said, I have problems with McCain also. For one that has demonstrated a Maverick way at times, he still is just a little too far to the right for me. His pursuit of taxing health care benefits at our places of work is a major sticking point with me. Also, his selection of Palin bothers me. While I do have great respect for all she has accomplished I would much prefer to see someone much more qualified if the unspeakable happened and she were to have the job of Commander and Chief. Conversely, I have the latter problem with Obama who if wins the election will absolutely be in that position. That scares me to my core. Regardless of all the many reasons that I have voted democratic over many years past I have to agree with Hilary. "Who do you want answering the phone at 3:00AM?" and With Joe, "this is not for on the job training." In this dangerous world it leaves me with but one choice. That is McCain. It will be the first time I have voted for a Republican for President since Gerald Ford and that goes back a few years. The real problem is the two party system that turns their backs on middle America. The movers/shakers and money in the Republican party is on the extreme right. They did their best to stop McCain and after failing at that, pressed him into making a choice for VP to appease them. The Democrats are not any better at all. The movers/shakers and money in that party pushes for the extreme left and this year that is exactly what they are offering up. If I am correct Obama is listed as the number 1 liberal in the Senate and his running mate is number3. The McCain and the Obama platforms are not where most middle thinking Americans are. Once again, we in the middle are left to choose who we dislike the least not who we like the most. For me it finally gets down to a few points but, points that are important to me. Experience and regard for the symbol of our county. McCain has both, Obama has neither.

re: Obama/Ayers

I think the truth will come out, but the election will be over. Senator Obama isn't truthful about his dealings with Mr. Ayers. In 2001, Senator Obama diverted millions of dollars to fund programs for Mr. Ayers at the University he is employed by. The Obama campaign had the college not disclose this information. The college was forced to do so last week. The findings are showing more involvement than Senator Obama has said. Getting this kind of funding isn't just for a "casual" acquaintance. There are so many red flags surrounding his involvement. Democrats remind me of the Republican Party four years ago. We were in total denial about what President Bush was doing because we wanted to be good Republicans and support our cause. Democrats are doing the same thing they accused the Republicans of doing. Now, who is blind? The sad thing is, this denial on their part can cause much damage to our homeland security. If there is nothing to hide, investgate and let the American people see for themselves. Let America descide. I am sick and tired of the news media white washing everything. I feel as if our country has been brain washed by the media. Truth is nowhere to be found. I think they are afraid of the truth...Americans can think for themselves. Let investigations be done into this so we can descide for ourselves and not live to regret our vote later.

Voter Fraud

The offices of ACORN were raided in Nevada for investigation of voter fraud. Signing up people that are not eligible to vote is a crime and trying to influence them is a shame. Thank God the State of North Carolina has a program Motor/Voter.You can register to vote when you renew your drivers license. No political action commitee (PAC) needed.

Fact: Obama was never an ACORN community organizer. • Fact: Obama was never an ACORN trainer and never worked for ACORN in any other capacity. • Fact: ACORN was not part of Project Vote, the successful voter registration drive Obama ran in 1992. In his capacity as an attorney, Barack Obama represented ACORN in a successful lawsuit alongside the U.S. Department of Justice against the state of Illinois to force state compliance with a federal voting access law. For his work helping enforce the law, called “Motor Voter,” Obama received the IVI-IPO Legal Eagle Award in 1995. Ken Blackwell is best known today for disenfranchising Democratic voters in his dual role as Ohio Secretary of State and chair of George Bush’s Ohio campaign in 2004. To see him shed crocodile tears for the integrity of the vote while making accusations about Obama and ACORN with absolutely no basis in fact is disturbing.

FACT: He never said he was, smart guy.

Fact:I never mentioned Obama.

Someone else will, I am beating them to the punch. Thx

obama bias

It's nice to see that the N.C. media is still the official media of the Democratic party. By the way, how did that John Edwards thing work out for you?

Who cares???

Do we really care what the wife of a Presidential nominee has to say???

Proud to be an American?

Well, isn't that just wonderful! Woop-t-do! Now that she has "finely" at this late stage in her life decided she is proud to be an American.

Why no mention of Palin?

Republican VP Nominee Sarah Palin will be right up the road at ECU on Tuesday, but I see no mention of that. Oh that's right, it's the Obamedia reporting (or not) again.

Maybe because no one cares

Maybe there has not been any mention of Palin being just up the street because no one really cares what she has to say. Let me sum it up for you...up in Alaska, maverick, oil. There, now you know what she said. As far as most of the rest of you people out there who are so fearful of Obama being president, just admit it, you don't want to vote for a black man. You can hide behind ACORN, Socialism, or whatever, but good ole racism is still alive and well, unfortunately. If McCain wins, we can all kiss our you know whats goodbye. We can also kiss our life savings goodbye, kiss our children goodbye as they head off to some stupid war, kiss alternative energies goodbye, and kiss decent healthcare goodbye.

You sound like you may be a closet racist.

mcCain wins

I can almost guess that you are Afro American because you people seem to be the only ones blaming people for not voting for Oboma as being racial...I don't care what color he is...He could be purple for all I care but he is not seasoned and has no idea how to talk without a telprompter telling him what to say...

Evidently you get all your information from Sean Hannity at Fox. I saw Obama at UNCW and both televised debates and he blew McCain out of the water. No Telepromter Needed.
