Mrs. North Carolina crowned

WILMINGTON -- Wilmington is home to the newly crowned Mrs. North Carolina. Nicole Hinson was crowned on Saturday at the annual pageant in Gastonia. Hinson has participated in the pageant for the past five years and has always placed but is excited for her big win this year. A registered dietitian, she looks forward to promoting her platform, which is promoting a positive body image and preventing eating disorders. Hinson said, "I'm leaving for DC tomorrow to lobby for my platform. I will be alongside Miss America, Kirsten Haglund, as well as the eating disorder coalition to lobby for the FREED act, which is the Federal Response to Eliminate Eating Disorders act and it's a comprehensive legislation for the prevention of eating disorders, the treatment of eating disorders, and research." Hinson is married with a three and half year-old son. This July she'll compete in the Mrs. United States pageant in Las Vegas.
