Myrick urges drilling for oil off North Carolina coast

Get your thoughts together people and take a stand for whatever it is you believe in....And here's a very interesting question: If everyone here feels so strongly about exploring for alternate energy sources in the United States, then why the heck don't you all simply call your Congressman/Woman and express your feelings. They REPRESENT YOU -AND- they want your vote! Call them...You may only get their Legislative Asst. But if enough people bombard their offices with letters and phone calls, it's bound to be a catalyst for CHANGE. EXERCISE YOUR RIGHTS. VOICE YOUR OPPINIONS! If you don't express your opinions to the proper authorities, then none of you have the right to complain! Don't just sit there -Take action!

I cannot believe that Myrick is still drilling for oil. He needs to get out of Indiana and actually do something with his life. WHO DRILLS?! HONESTLY?! Myrick....the Drill Sergeant.

If this bill does not pass, it will show what a useless Congress we really have. It will show how much the Congress takes bribes from oil industries to protect their interests. It will be another step in the downfall of the United States of America if the Congress can't pass something like this that makes perfect sense for the MAJORITY of Americans. That is what the United States of America was supposed to be about-MAJORITY RULE.

We KNOW that we have billions of more barrels to be recovered in Alaska, off the West Coast of Florida, in the oil shales of the Rocky Mountains, off California, and likely off the Southeastern United States, but ONE political party simply refuses to allow the United States to reduce its dependence upon foreign oil. On this issue, the Democrats possess a political dogma that approaches a level of fanatic lunacy the Taliban must envy. Remember that the next time you're filling up...and in November.

I am a North Carolina surfer. If you know anything about the coastal areas of NC you should know that surfing is a large industry. Most involved in this industry eather surfers, retailers, or manufactors will fight drilling off the NC coast tooth and nail. I know that the drilling process is nasty and could upset the enviorment at the time of drilling. But after the dirlling is complete marine life are attracted to the platforms and thrive in these areas. Just ask any fisherman who has fished in the Gulf or the California coastal areas. There is a lot of natural gas off the NC coast and if this gas could be used to power giant Hydrogen Fuel Cell power plants. I have done some research and I know there is no such thang as a Giant Fuell Cell Power Plant. Most fuel cell power is used as backup power for comerical buildings but this could be done and NC could become the largest electricity producer in the country. This I beleve is an American Solution.

More oil, cheaper gas would take power away from the Democrat run state political racket. That will never be allowed to happen. Same thing with drilling in Alaska, the Dem congress wouldn't want to lose political power. Keep people desperate, and they will vote for the "free cheese" tossing Democrats. Why do you think BOTH Hillary and Obama said that they will INCREASE TAXES? It makes the poor and dumb depend on handouts.

I bet Elizabeth Ouzts doesn't walk to work, not use electricity in her home, etc, etc.... No more mercury is released than is EVERY time they dredge up and down the coast or rivers....

Very sad day for the our coastline if this bill is passed. It's time to let go of oil for the future generations. I would rather see windmills & solar panels instead. Why don't they pass a bill to produce energy from the wind, sun, ocean? When I went to California northern coast where there is drilling the coast line had a line of oil at the shore, nasty!

Let them drill off our coast. I need new fishing places.
