NC businesses say recession is a state of mind

WINSTON-SALEM -- About three dozen North Carolina business owners have banded together and refused to participate in the recession. Their businesses include construction and real estate companies, along with a florist and hair stylist. The Winston-Salem Journal reported Wednesday the group has pooled money to put up billboards in Forsyth and Guilford counties, distribute bumper stickers and create a Web site, Clemmons-based CPA Mac Bond and others agree that times are tough, but they're choosing to be positive and believe that things will work out. Advertising-company owner Janice Buie of Lexington said the danger is that the bad news puts people into a panic and they pull back their spending too much. (Copyright 2008 by The Associated Press. thank you. finally somebody

thank you. finally somebody is positive about this. i am a local business owner. im also not rich. i have to work to pay my bills just like most people. i have 5 resturants in the area. from jacksonville to shallotte. every one of them is having positive increases over last year. its not because i have raised prices or got the perfect location. its because we try to treat customers like we would want to be treated. we try to care about them. yes thinks are tighter than they were a year ago. i have to pay attention to waste and things like that. but the only thing that shows me that times are tough is the NEWS. if we as a country would concentrate on us and not all the crap that is out there. keep people positive and not turn and run when things get alittle tough we can push through anything.
