NC community groups protest BofA, Wells Fargo

READ MORE:
CHARLOTTE -- Community groups who think Bank of America and Wells Fargo have been overcharging consumers plan a protest demonstration. Representatives of North Carolina United Power plan a Friday rally against Charlotte's two mega-banks. The statewide network of congregations and community associations wants the banks to cut consumer interest rates to no more than 10 percent. The groups say the banks raised fees after receiving billions of taxpayer dollars to get them through the credit crisis. The rally comes two days after Bank of America announced CEO Kenneth Lewis will leave the company. He was caught up in probes into whether he and other bank executives misled shareholders by allowing billions of dollars in early bonuses to Merrill Lynch employees. Hallelujah- the good old fashioned boycott is still alive & well

Wells Fargo formerly Wachovia cut my credit limits in July and then tacked a 24% interest rate on my cards with existing balances, in ONE DAY! I've been a customer since 1989. I reported them to the FTC government banking complaint site. They then came back and tried to resolve all of their misdeeds, but still no break on the interest rate. I have another account with Bank of America. Their credit unit is actually FIA card services a/k/a MBNA. They just went from 2.99 promotional rate to 16.4% on my balance. I took my 401K and paid off a chunk of it, I can't afford revolving credit debt at that rate. I had to spend my nest egg to rid myself of it. They are truly TYRANTS... both of them!
