NC family wants pet dog returned from shelter

READ MORE:
RALEIGH -- A Wake County family says its dog shouldn't be put to death by the county although the animal's behavior qualifies it as dangerous. The News & Observer of Raleigh reported Friday that the 40-pound boxer named Honey is in the county animal shelter while its fate is decided. Two people reported bites from the dog and a third person suffered a broken wrist jumping out of its way. Owner Connie Inggs said the family is appealing the death sentence. She said she didn't know the dog had been declared dangerous and never met one person who complained. County animal control director Michael Williams said the case is unusual, and nothing will happen to Honey until an appeal is heard. (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)

animal control

There is a dog on my street (about 80 lbs worth) that has killed several other neighborhood animals and the owner(s) refuse to contain their animal in violation of our county containment ordinance. This animal has on several occasions come out into the street to attack my leashed dog as we walk by. Once this was witnessed by the owners who made no attempt to help me fight off their animal. I have personally called animal control twice with no result. It is nice to see that animal control actually works in some places, just not here.

Poor Honey. I had a neighbor

Poor Honey. I had a neighbor who didn't like our doberman and said it did all kinds of things which were false. Then he fed him rat poison when nobody took the dog away. Some people are evil.

Poor Honey?!?!?

I had a neighbor who had a 110lb. dog they had found running wild. It would sprint thru its electronic fence to run down joggers. It finally tried to attack our four year old son, dragging the owner into our yard and almost pulling him down to get to our boy. They asked if I was trying to peddle insurance when I told them they were risking their home having that dog around, and refused to put up a fence. If the county authorities had not been so helpful in citing them several times at our urging- convincing them to get a fence- that pup for sure would have been feasting on strychnine pie. Some people place way too much value on their animals; it's just insane.
