RALEIGH, N.C. -- North Carolina's workforce is bracing for what could be more bad news.
The Employment Security Commission on Wednesday releases unemployment figures for January.
The jobless rate has already hovered at the historic high of around 11 percent for 11 months. January would make it a year that the unemployment rate has been stuck in such gloomy territory.
North Carolina's jobless rate hit a historic high of 11.2 percent in December at the same time the number of jobs lost since the recession started two years ago neared 250,000.
The high unemployment rate has meant longer periods before workers are able to find new jobs.
