RALEIGH -- A Raleigh man has been charged with stealing gas cards and offering $20 fill-ups at area gas stations.
The News & Observer of Raleigh reported Friday that 27-year-old Dillar Roe Johnson stole cards from an engineering company, then hung around gas stations offering fill-ups for $20.
Police are trying to find those who took advantage of the offer and say hundreds of people could be charged if they knew the cards were stolen.
Johnson is charged with three felony counts of financial card fraud, three felony counts of breaking and entering into a motor vehicle and one count of financial card theft.
The president of Bass, Nixon and Kennedy says $23,000 in gas had been charged by early Monday. The cards were used more than 300 times at more than two dozen stations. Purchases ranged from $5 to $400.
