NC man dies after being dragged by golf cart

READ MORE:
CHARLOTTE -- A 62-year-old North Carolina man has died after he was dragged by a golf cart when he tried to reach a toddler who fell into the cart. The Charlotte Observer reported the incident occurred during an equestrian event Saturday afternoon at stables in Landis, just north of Kannapolis. Landis Police Lt. Mark Benfield says a golf cart parked at the stables started rolling when a two-year-old fell into the cart and onto the gas pedal. Benfield says Jimmy Pless of Kannapolis tried to stop the cart but was knocked over and dragged beneath it. Pless was flown to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte where he was pronounced dead. Benfield says the two-year-old was not hurt. (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)
