NC man dies after stabbing woman, starting fire

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. -- A North Carolina man has died after he stabbed his girlfriend and set himself on fire. The Daily News of Jacksonville reported that 39-year-old Rodney Douglas of Jacksonville died about 1 p.m. Tuesday at a Chapel Hill hospital. The man's girlfriend was in stable condition at a Wilmington hospital. Police have not released her name. A friend of Douglas called police. Jacksonville police Capt. Patricia Driggers says arriving officers heard an explosion and saw Douglas in flames at the entrance to a shed at the home. Driggers says a child at the home was not hurt.
