NC man sentenced to life for killing former bosses

READ MORE:
CHARLOTTE -- A North Carolina man who says killing his former bosses was justified because they "disrespected" him has been sentenced to life in prison. Multiple media outlets reported that 30-year-old Derrick Lamont Gregory was sentenced Thursday in the 2007 slayings at a Moe's Southwest Grill restaurant in Charlotte. Gregory pleaded guilty in Mecklenburg County Superior Court. He told the court he felt what he "did was right" because the two managers fired him. Family members of one victim stormed from the courtroom while Gregory talked. Gregory's attorneys say he had suffered child abuse and was mentally ill. Gregory was sentenced to two life sentences with no possibility of parole for the shootings of 34-year-old Jeffrey Philip Maher and 36-year-old Vincent Patrick Ferens.
