NC officials say tax refunds on track after delays

READ MORE:

RALEIGH, N.C. -- North Carolina tax officials say the state is catching up on income tax refunds after a delay earlier this year caused by slow cash flow.

The Charlotte Observer reported Sunday that the Revenue Department said tax return filers who meet next the April 15 deadline should have their refunds by mid-May.

Revenue Department spokeswoman Beth Stevenson said the state had a similar problem last year and was able to get refunds out by May 13 to people who filed on time.

Stevenson says refunds delayed beyond May 31 start accruing 5 percent interest.
