WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- North Carolina saw the biggest increase in sales tax revenue of any state over the summer. Tax revenues rose across the country for the third straight quarter, giving a much-needed boost to beleaguered government budgets.
The Rockefeller Institute said the amount of tax money states collected increased 2.6 percent in the July to September quarter, compared to the same period a year ago,
Sales tax in North Carolina was up 27.7 percent after a penny sales tax hike last fall.
