NC sheriff defends immigration deportation program

READ MORE:
CHARLOTTE -- A North Carolina sheriff says he'll continue to use a controversial program that allows deputies to report suspected illegal immigrants after they're arrested on other charges. Mecklenburg County Sheriff Chip Bailey said Monday that deputies don't actively look for illegal immigrants. He said all individuals are asked about their citizenship while being booked into jail. If they say they're not a U.S. citizen, they are reported to immigration officials. The sheriff's office is among more than 60 state or local law enforcement agencies that participates in the federal program, which was criticized last week by the U.S. Government Accountability Office. The agency said the program is being used to round up minor offenders instead of serious criminals, a criticism echoed by Latino advocacy groups in North Carolina. Minor Offenders

These minor offenders are turning into America's worst nightmare. If you want to come to America, please do it legally, and stop taking advantage of the American system.

40%

of convicted felons, in federal custody, are illegal immigrants. How are these minor offenders? Federal officials spend over $3.4 million daily to feed and house those illegal immigrant felons. That's over $1 BILLION annually. If someone is stopped for a moving violation, and found to be in this country illegally, then: a. Give him a ticket for the moving violation. b. Send him back to his home country. c. Tell him not to return unless he does so legally. If he is using a false social security card to work in this country, and he's caught by his employer or Social Security, send him home. Give them the same equal opportunity any Gringo would receive, under similar circumstances, south of the Border. Tough Times call for tough choices.
