NC urges motorists to buy plates to support zoo

ASHEBORO, N.C. -- Officials in North Carolina are urging motorists to show their support for the state's zoo on the back of their cars. The state Division of Motor Vehicles is accepting applications for the new "Support the N.C. Zoo" license plate. It costs $30 extra, with $20 going back to the N.C. Zoo Society. The DMV will begin making the plates once 300 people sign up and pay. Zoo officials say supporters can buy the plates by calling the society or visiting its Web site. Plate applications will also be available at the zoo's gift shop. (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)

NC has the ugliest special plates of any state. Why would anyone want to purchase one. All I have seen are just the standard issue plate with a little picture on them. If they would give up the stardard place design when they made special plates people might purchase them. However, they are too proud of the “First in flight” that they put on every plate..

They need to have plates for

They need to have plates for vererans of all military services, not just those who retired, reserve and vets of certain wars. Just a simple Armed Forces veteran would be better than nothing.
