NC woman sues over 'Monster-in-Law' script

READ MORE:
RALEIGH, N.C. -- A North Carolina woman has sued Jennifer Lopez, Jane Fonda and others associated with the making of the 2005 movie "Monster-in-Law," saying the movie was similar to a script she wrote years earlier. The News & Observer of Raleigh reported Thursday that Sheri Gilbert of Wilson filed the copyright lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Raleigh. She and her husband, Willie Gilbert Jr., say they are owed some of the almost $155 million the movie made worldwide. Sheri Gilbert says the movie is similar to a script she wrote in 1998 that was based in part on her own mother-in-law problems. An attorney representing Warner Bros. and 33 other defendants said the "mother-in-law" character is not unusual and has asked that the lawsuit be dismissed. Gilbert said the similarities are more than coincidence. (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)

I doubt if anyone would file

I doubt if anyone would file a lawsuit for a mother in law story. There must be some evidence for her to file in Federal Court! Why blame anyone who was a victim of theft? If Hollywood took it and they made money, why shouldn't she?

It sounds to me like this

It sounds to me like this lady and her family are just out to make a quick buck off someone in this hard economic time. What proof does she have? Did she give her script to someone or did she just write it and says the movie sounds like her script. This lady needs to get off her butt and go to work...make money the honest way. By earning it

WilmMan......

What makes you think she isn't a working, taxpaying individual? She must have some kind of evidence somewhere....DUH!!!!

Not really, claims can be

Not really, claims can be made without any substantiating evidence. Look at the lady that sued McDonalds because she spilled coffee on her lap. Like she really didn't know the coffee was going to be hot
