Applications for financial aid have spiked 30 percent since last year in North Carolina, as more students seek help amid the economic recession.
North Carolina is expected to offer about $300 million in need-based aid this year.
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, deadline is March, and a college foundation spokesperson says the earlier applicants turn in the paper work, the better their chances for receiving aid.
If you're a high school senior needing help filling our your FAFSA, you can participate in FAFSA Day this Saturday. For more information, contact your school's guidance counselor.
