New athletic center at Brunswick Community College

Some big upgrades are in the works at Brunswick Community College.

A new athletic center is entering its final phase of construction. All that is left is to install flooring for the 50,000 square foot facility.

This includes surfaces for the 9,000 square foot gymnasium, and tiles for two pools.

BCC men's basketball coach Walter Shaw says he can't wait to have a home court.

"We've been playing at different gyms across the county for the history of our program. It gives us a great opportunity to be able to host tournaments. It also gives us a great opportunity to bring more people to our games," said Shaw.

A spokeswoman for Brunswick Community College said the facility should be complete by early 2009.
