WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- This time next week Cape Fear Community College students will be hitting the books. Their fall semester starts Monday.

Today was orientation. 1,500 new students packed the Schwartz Center to learn about their new school, how to stay safe and how to succeed. The students say they have good reason for wanting to be a Sea Devil.

"I wanted to come to Cape Fear because I love Wilmington and the business and all the people and I heard here their cosmetology program was very good," freshman Ashly Hall said. "And so therefore I wanted to be a part of it."

The last day to register at CFCC is Wednesday. Instructors are expecting an enrollment record this fall with more than 9,000 students.
