Insurance agent Don Bullard was at his office Thursday after being arrested on drug charges. New details have emerged from a search warrant executed by Wilmington police officers. Don Bullard was once one of State Farm's top agents before leaving the company about a year ago for what he called "philosophical reasons." Now he is charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver ecstasy, along with destroying evidence. Last December, police arrested Ashley Ricks and Kathryn Williams for trafficking ecstasy, marijuana and possession of firearms. After the arrest, both women told officers they had been selling ecstasy to Bullard who they said was distributing it to a number of young females. Tuesday night, WPD officers executed a search warrant at Bullard’s home. Among other things, the search revealed one small blue pill, 2 pink pills, and 2 guns with ammunition. The search warrant also details Bullard's relationship with Brittany Faircloth. Faircloth said Bullard often had cocaine and ecstasy at his house. On one occasion, she said Bullard gave her a pill that caused her to black out. When she regained consciousness she was naked with no recollection of what had happened. Faircloth also said she saw about 50 women who would come to Bullard’s home for drugs. Thursday, Bullard was arrested for drug possession with intent to sell and attempting to destroy evidence. Wednesday, Bullard was arrested for drug possession with intent to sell and attempting to destroy evidence. Bullard posted $15,000 bond, and was back at work Thursday. At the advice of his lawyer Dennis Sullivan, Bullard declined to comment on camera. Bullard's clients do not have to worry about their insurance. All agreements are between the individual and the insurance company, so there is no need to worry. However, if Bullard is found guilty of the charges, he could lose his North Carolina insurance license.

charges were DROPPED

All charges were DROPPED. Why would they wipe Mr. Bullard's record clean if he were guilty of anything. This was a case of Guilty by association.

And it's said that this whole "story" has caused so much unecessary negative publicity.

Personally, I think that WWAY, WETC, and the Star News deserves to Blast the fact that the charges were DROPPED, like they did when they thought they had their "big story".

I'll admit I don't

I'll admit I don't personally know as much about drug dealing as law enforcement should, but just from a retailer's perspective, wouldn't a stock of three pills of something and a client list of 50 create numerous delivery and customer service issues?

Sounds like they grabed a

Sounds like they grabed a real Al Capone type here. I would like to see all of the drugs and guns that they have taken from this high caliber criminal. Wilmington shall be safe for years to come after this highly skilled raid into the underworld. Jost my .02 S/F ROGER FLEMING

Why are the police wasting time on ecstasy anyway

Why are the police wasting time on ecstasy anyway? It is a rich kid, yuppie drug that is not a life destroyer like heroin, meth, or coke. I would rather the cops start busting the meth heads and tweakers downtown. Why target ecstacy when we have bigger problems. The whole thing was a waste of taxpayer money.

Because, among other

Because, among other reasons, ecstacy can have bad interractions with other drugs someone might be taking. This can be fatal in rare cases. Also because an overdose can mess with your heart function, put you in a coma, or kill you. This drug is illegal for these reasons. If there was a legitimate use for this drug, it would still be a controlled substance like Ritilin or Vicodin. This is because of the serious risks associated with this drug, a doctor would need to recommend it. As it stands, they haven't found any legitimate use, so it's just plain illegal.

duh

It is illegal. And it is dangerous....leads to muscle breakdown, kidney, liver and cardiovascular failure. Cardiovascular failure has been reported in some of the Ecstasy-related fatalities. Repeated use of Ecstasy ultimately may damage the cells that produce serotonin, which has an important role in the regulation of mood, appetite, pain, learning and memory. There already is research suggesting Ecstasy use can disrupt or interfere with memory. But its just yuppies and rich kids.....like uh strippers?

Now the plot thickens......

This is making a little more sense now. Those two girls were recently sentenced because of their felony drug and weapons convictions. So they rolled over on ol' Don trying to get a few years off their hard time. One small blue pill and two round pink pills...now that's one heck of a take for a years worth of investigation!

Funny comment......

Oh, did you miss the piece of the story that said they were also driving a Cadillac registered to Donny boy. Don't be too quick to judge the women - drugs make desperate people do desperate things including your buddy. I say give it a few more weeks and your head will be spinning!

You really have to wonder...

How would he even know Ricks and Williams if there wasn't something to this story. They wouldn't just pull a name out of the air and HOPE that police found drugs. Another poster commented on his activities at Pure Gold, and the use of ecstasy makes perfect sense in that light. Nothing sadder than a guy who can't admit to himself that his glory days are gone, and accept the fact that he's getting on in years. I've seen guys destroy their marriages, careers, and even lives because they can't face the fact that the hot young babes just aren't interested. He needs to accept his own mortality and leave the young girls alone. Geezers just don't turn them on.

What a compete waste of effort.

Doesn't sound like a lot of pills to me, but he appears to be charged with "destruction of evidence," too, so who knows what he really had? I'll wait for the whole story, but he sounds more like a pervert than a pusher/dealer to me. If the people were willingly coming to him, though, then the worst he was is a partier who likes to have sex. That makes half of Wilmington guilty of something. You know, there are people plotting to kill ALL of us right now (terrorists - remember them?), and the best we can do is spend countless taxpayer dollars and man-hours staking-out their homes and "operations." These criminals would not exist if it were not for the very people arresting them. How much would those "two pink pills" be worth if you could get them at Walgreens? If they WERE legal, your daughters could buy them in a controlled envoronment, with a guaranteed active ingredient and potency. Instead, they have to sneak over to some middle-aged pervert's house, and do who knows what to get high (off of a black-market product). Look at the chaos on the TX/Mexico border, spilling-into the USA. ALL of the guns, killings, and illegal activity are a result of the "war" on drugs. Make the drugs legal, and the cartels and manufacturers will have to get legit jobs. We have already proven once that prohibition causes anarchy and violence. When alcohol was illegal, the illegal trade killed more people than alcoholism. -jc

wonder what is on the video

wonder what is on the video tapes that were taken?

narcs

So the 2 pretty drug dealing girls told on him when they got busted. Guess it was not for a deal, they are both in prison for 5/6 years. I bet they spilled everyone they could think of.

and...

Is it wrong to "spill" on people who are putting others in danger? I think not.

no

I didnt say it was wrong at all. What may be wrong is that the news told what the girls did. May just be putting them in danger for being NARC's. Drug dealers are dangerous people.

They DELIVERED the pillls to him

They (the girls) took the pills to him, so yeah, he was a dealer. The cops we working down the chain instead of up the chain. They should have went after who sold the mass number of pills to the girls. Straws. The prosecutor needs a big case, hope Don has a real good lawyer and gives it to him. This is the crap that gives government officials bad names.

what a waste of manpower

Three ecstasy pills provided by willing participents that got caught by the police and decided to give them a high profile name just to knock a few years off their sentence. Shame on the Wilmington police dept. How about chasing real drug dealers.

Drugs

You're absolutely right, let's just enforce the part of the laws that we agree with.

WPD is losing it

How about enforcing the law and making it cost effective. Three ecstasy pills and a year to investigate it. Great.

Almost a year spent on Don to get three pills of ecstasy?

In the meanwhile big time drug dealers trafficking drugs into Wilmington only had to worry about the New Hanover couny Sheriffs Dept. I'm not knocking them, they have busted several people with kilos of cocaine and recently close to $100,000 worth of heroin. How come WPD doesn't arrest big time dope dealers? Oh, because they are chasing a guy they investigate for close to a year with only three ecstasy pills. Personal use. How can you claim he was a supplier when all you found was three pills. After a year, you would think they bought multiple times from Don in a undercover deal(s)...NOT. He wasn't charged for selling. Just possessing with the Intent to sell. What a joke WPD. Keep the faith Don. They are after your $$$$$.

More to the story....

Do you REALLY think WPD is trying to get money from this guy? How does a police department get money from someone? This is a more probably scenario- the suspect was probably trafficing more than just few pills, maybe other illicit drugs. The type of girls who trade sex prefer cocaine more than ecstacy. Is it possible that he was using his company's "expense" accounts for shady things like the cars he gave to these girls, cash for drugs, bar tabs, strippers, etc.? I hope he is innocent, but I'm thinking there may be more to this case than is revealed in the paper and the DA/Fed is working with ALL the suspects to get information regarding the suppliers of some major drugs. Quit being small minded and making far-fetched claims against our police.
