New Hanover County residents will vote on sales tax

New Hanover County residents will vote on raising the county sales tax. County commissioners approved a resolution to put a sales tax referendum on the ballot in the spring. Some commissioners say raising the sales tax by a quarter percent, makes more sense than raising property taxes. Commissioners hope an increase will raise about seven million dollars in revenue. The vote will take place in May.
