New Hanover County school officials are asking for parents help

Schools officials in New Hanover County need your help. Parents with students in New Hanover County schools are being encouraged to attend a district improvement meeting Thursday night. Parents can offer suggestions and ideas to administrators on how to better area schools. This is the third year the Department of Public Instruction has placed the county under improvement status for not meeting their annual yearly progress. New Hanover County Schools spokesperson, Valita Quattlebaum said, "Parental involvement is the biggest piece. We need parents to get involved and take it seriously and make sure to do things like making sure your child do his homework. If there is a problem, make sure the child gets that extra help they need, go to the school, talk to the principal. We need to improve in parental involvement." Parents will also be presented with information on the progress the district has made. The meeting begins at 6:00 p.m. at the Dale Spencer Education Building.

AS USUAL...the ONLY parents that will attend are the parents who shouldn't really be there in the first place...the ones who actually CARE about their children...the PROBLEM children...their parents will be doing what they always do...NOTHING...meetings like this help NOBODY....unfortunately. You absolutely CANNOT force parents to push their children to do well...but in this day in can sure PUNISH the children whos parents DO push them for the failures of others....just the state of our country right now...pretty sad actually.
