Newborn girl found dead in garbage truck update

HUBERT -- Investigators in eastern North Carolina say they have a person of interest in the death of a newborn girl whose decomposed body was found in a garbage truck. The Daily News of Jacksonville reported Tuesday that the baby's body was found Monday by an employee of the garbage service who was about to dump a trash can. Onslow County Sheriff Ed Brown said the investigation is continuing. County medical examiner Dr. Anuradha Arcot said the baby appeared to be full-term and there were no signs of abnormalities. Onslow Memorial Hospital spokesman Tim Strickland said parents who don't want a newborn can legally leave the infant within seven days of birth with an official at a hospital, health or social services department or law enforcement agency. All you pro-lifers make note of this. You want to ban abortions so this can happen more often to innocent unwanted babies. What is worse, really??

I am pro-life and as of now, abortion is not banned, and this unfortunate situation still happened. So abortion being banned or not has nothing to do with the lack of common sense someone had to put a baby in a trash can when there are thousands of people out there that are unable to even have children. Whether or not there is a ban on abortion, this type of stupidity will still happen. Abortion is not the answer to being stupid. Its used time and time again as an excuse for being irresponsible. Whoever did this is a murderer and should pay for the lack of responsibility.

Regardless, there are always going to be stupid people in the world that don't take advantage of the fact that abortion is an option. But take that option away and the people that would otherwise be smart enough to know that they are not ready to bring new life into the world would have no choice in the matter. This will happen more and more should you take that right away. There are too many kids in foster homes now that don't have anyone to care for them so take away abortion rights and that number is going to grow exponentially or you are going to have a lot of sick people and health issues as more will try to take care of it on their own. You really think that is a good idea? I really wonder, if it were an issue of the government telling a MAN what they could and could not do to their bodies, if there would be an argument at all. Women should have the right to decide what they want to do and not have the government regulate that.

Abortion is not banned as of now but the facts are that if they were to be banned again this type of thing would happen more and more. Not to mention the lives of women put at risk getting back ally abortions again. McCain/Palin want to overturn Rowe vs Wade and set us all back a few centuries. My point was in a case like this an abortion would have been a much more humane option than throwing the poor baby in the trash to suffer a horrible death , alone and starving. I can only hope the baby went quickly and painlessly. I do not agree with abortion either but it has to be an option open to women who find themselves pregnant who are in no position to raise a child.

Abortion was an option. Why carry a baby to full term only to kill it? Why not go and get an abortion when you find out you are pregnant if thats what you believe in? There were so many options for this person and there will always be options for any person who ends up in a situation where they cannot take care of a baby. Its just plain murder in this case as I said before and the above person stated. I dont care WHAT excuse this murder gives as to why they did this, there were still other options. You can walk up to ANY hospital and hand a newborn baby over, NO questions asked and not be prosecuted. Maybe the mother killed the baby by accident and didnt want to face charges? Who knows but I cant believe that anyone would have a heart to do this to a newborn baby. Especially one that you carried 9 months and saw most likely on an ultrasound on several occasions. I agree with you in hoping the child went quickly and painlessly.
