It was civics in action at UNCW Thursday night. The 2010 Census results mean the need for legislative redistricting. So the state legislature is changing the lines regarding our representation in the state House and Senate and the US House of Representatives.

FIRST ON 3: Census 2010 Update - ILM, RDU & CLT showed the most growth; Hispanics 8% of state population

video Figures reported Wednesday by the U.S. Census Bureau show that North Carolina's overall population jumped more than 18 percent from 2000 to 2010 and now totals more than 9.5 million. Much of the growth has come in areas around Charlotte, Raleigh and Wilmington.

The U.S. Census Bureau announced today that the 2010 Census showed the resident population of the United States on April 1, 2010, was 308,745,538.
