Round 3 high school football state playoff action is complete. Hoggard will be moving onto the east finals after an impressive, but close win over Scotland County. The 2014 high school football regular season concluded on Friday night. Whiteville captured the regular season crown in the Three Rivers Conference. We had highlights from the Wolfpack's win over South Columbus along with coverage from two key matchups in the Four County Conference: Wallace Rose Hill vs. Clinton and East Bladen vs. West Bladen. We decided to be creative on Friday's 5th Quarter on WWAY. In fact Ron Burgundy made a special appearance, flying in all the way from San Diego. It's certainly worth watching if you didn't watch the 5th Quarter live on Friday night. Full story...

Only two weeks remain in the 2014 high school football regular season. On Friday's 5th Quarter we showcased several games from around the region. This included the showdown between undefeated Wallace-Rose Hill vs. East Bladen, undefeated Hoggard vs. Laney, New Hanover vs. West Brunswick, Whiteville vs. Fairmont and more. Check it out! We had quite an evening of high school football on WWAY's 5th Quarter. We showcased New Hanover's victory over Laney. We featured East Bladen senior Farrell Murchison. He broke the career rushing record for East Bladen Friday. Whiteville's Terrin Manning had 15 carries, 5 touchdowns and 330 yards on Friday. Plus more! Full story...

Week 8 of the high school football season is complete. As usual we had loads of coverage on the 5th Quarter with host John Rendleman and analyst Trot Nixon. Unfortunately one area game featured a brawl that resulted in seven player ejections. The list of playoff teams from our area just got reduced due to sanctions that will result from the multiple ejections. Full story...
