A logging truck rolled onto its side littering a Brunswick County road with logs around 8:15 a.m. A state trooper responding to the accident lost control of his cruiser on Ocean Isle Beach Road and crashed into a ditch.

Emergency workers had to use the jaws of life today to pry a woman from her car. The crash in Pender County closed down I-40 this afternoon for almost an hour near mile marker 401, but a good samaritan showed up just in time to help save the day.

The National Transportation Safety Board says after completing its investigation into a deadly car crash in Missouri, it found that texting caused the accident that killed two people and injured 38 others. The NTSB is now recommending that every state ban the use of cell phones, hand-held or hands free, behind the wheel. Drivers in Wilmington say they don’t think it will work.
