videoFriday marked the return of Chasity Melvin to WWAY's Full Court Press. The NC State Hall of Famer made a guest appearance on Friday. This season's analyst, Kevin Schneider, had a previous basketball commitment to fulfill. We showcased a slew of basketball action on the Full Court Press. This included game action from Hoggard-New Hanover, Whiteville-East Columbus and much more including another football state championship for Wallace-Rose Hill.

She's back! Chasity Melvin returns for guest appearance on Full Court Press on Friday night

video She's back. It's just for one night, but regardless, she is back. Former NC State basketball standout Chasity Melvin is in the saddle for the Full Court Press..Chasity Melvin led NC State to the Women's Final Four in 1998. Melvin was recently inducted into the NC State Athletics Hall of Fame and tonight she's back at WWAY to talk high school hoops on the Full Court Press!

WWAY's Chasity Melvin enters "Wolfpack Hall"

videoIt's now official. WWAY Full Court Press analyst Chasity Melvin is a member of the NC State Athletic Hall of Fame. Melvin was inducted over the weekend in Raleigh. Of course, we had to make the trip in order check out some of the excitement.

Screamin' Eagles claim Ashley title

videoThe Ashley Screamin' Eagles were clearly "Newsome Strong" this week. On Thursday Ashley baseball team claimed the championship title of the Ashley Spring Break Baseball Tournament. Due to anticipated foul weather Friday's UNCW baseball game will now be played at 3pm instead of 6pm. Plus more!

WWAY's Chasity Melvin to enter NC State Athletic Hall of Fame

videoWWAY's Chasity Melvin will be inducted into the NC State Athletic Hall of Fame in October. Melvin was a standout basketball player for four years in the 1990's under the late Kay Yow.

videoWhiteville High swept South Columbus on Monday in high school hoops. We had highlights from both games on WWAY. Brett Blizzard continues to scorch the nets in Italy. Blizzard pumped in 18 in his team's victory over the weekend. UNCW continues to slide in the national RPI rankings in basketball for both men and women. Plus more!

Weekend sports update

The season is over for the Carolina Panthers. The San Francisco 49ers advance in the playoffs. WWAY's Chasity Melvin was honored in Cary on Saturday by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association for being of the best athletes in the state. Saturday was the first day Duke, North Carolina & NC State all lost on the same day since 1996 in men's basketball. Both UNC Wilmington basketball teams continued their losing streaks this weekend.
