D.C. Virgo Middle School will once again open its doors, but not in a way administrators planned. Recently, the state denied the school's application for charter status, so the school will be a public school, with a twist.

D.C. Virgo Middle School will reopen this fall as D.C. Virgo Urban Prep Charter School. Community leaders met Wednesday to put pen to paper to make it all official.

D.C. Virgo Middle School is closed this school year, but Tuesday night the New Hanover County School Board discussed options to reopen the school. The main option the school system is considering is opening D.C. Virgo back up as a charter school.
